Our history
Wellcem’s development began in the early 1990s when pioneering research into alternative well materials which led to the discovery of polymers as a superior option to cement in oil and gas applications. In 1992 Brønnteknologiutvikling (BTU) was founded, focusing on scaling these innovations for the market. By 2002, the company’s name was changed to Wellcem and the first version of ThermaSet® was commercially developed and patented.
Wellcems first major commercial ventures happened in 2010, performing multiple total loss jobs. These days, Wellcem creates solutions across the well integrity sphere.
